CONSULTING FOR MANUFACTURERS

Installation compliance brings market advantage

We are a specialist standards partner, helping electrical equipment manufacturers position themselves as trusted solution providers.

The current landscape

Compliance gaps are not a product problem

Electrical installation standards exist globally to protect people and property. In India, the National Electrical Code (NEC) 2023 is mandatory and forms the legal baseline for safe electrical installations. Yet real-world installations often fall short, resulting in tragic accidents.

Electrocutions and fires happen all too often and are accepted as inevitable. This is not caused by product quality, rather it arises from the four gaps below.

CE Marking & EU Market Access

Achieve compliant, defensible CE marking for the EU market

ProtegoPlus Electrotech Pvt. Ltd. is a specialist standards partner helping manufacturers achieve compliant, defensible CE marking for the EU market.

Current compliance landscape

CE marking is a legal requirement

CE marking is a manufacturer's declaration that a product meets all applicable EU health, safety and environmental requirements. For electrical equipment, this means compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) and RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) and 30+ other sectoral harmonisation acts. It is a legal requirement for placing electrical equipment on the EU market.

Many manufacturers face challenges in applying it correctly. When something goes wrong, customs can hold the goods, and market surveillance authorities can then challenge the paperwork, requesting additional documentation to prove the product meets EU requirements. Some manufacturers may unknowingly use the CE marking without fully meeting the requirements, which can invite penalties and even criminal liability for serious infringements.

Consequences beyond the penalties.

{{ w }}

How can you close this gap?

By building CE marking compliance into product design, supported by documentation, manufacturers become trusted and credible participants in the EU market. Products can clear EU customs and market surveillance checks without delays or penalties, and the documentation can withstand scrutiny.

INDUSTRY REALITY

Applying standards consistently is a challenge

Compliance with electrical installation standards is critical to reduce risk and protect people and property. In India, the NEC 2023 and IS 732 are mandatory and form the baseline for safe installations.

Awareness has grown, but the work is complex since standards interlink and objectives call for clear interpretation. That puts design teams under time pressure, carrying the liability and still needing to satisfy clients.

Where Design meets Compliance

We help architects and interior designers integrate electrical safety and compliance into the design process, without constraining aesthetics or function.

The current landscape

Most electrical incidents can be traced back to design

In India, electrical installations are legally required to comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) 2023, and to be designed in accordance with it before work starts.

Despite this, most incidents occur in occupied buildings.  These are linked to poor design, where the electrical design is addressed late, or delegated entirely to electricians and contractors who rarely have the required standards expertise. This leads to recurring issues.

Delivered by specialists who help write the standards you are trained on.  Ideal for those who design, install, inspect, and verify electrical installations.

The industry reality

Conformity starts with the people doing the design

Conformity with electrical installation standards is critical for electrical designers and verifiers, both from a statutory and a safety perspective. It is best achieved when design is carried out by competent professionals who understand the standard and how to apply it in real-life situations.

This is easier said than done. Standards are lengthy and hard to understand, with many cross-references that make it difficult to relate them to what is seen on site. Training is thus crucial to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Who we are

The specialists who help write the standards

ProtegoPlus Electrotech is a specialist standards partner for electrical installation covering design, training, compliance and safety.  Since we are involved in writing the standards, we can translate them into practical, defensible guidance.

Our story

From the source : standards guidance from the specialists who shape them

Krish Theobald presenting at the IEC General Meeting 2025, New Delhi

Electrical installation standards exist to protect people and property. In India, electrocutions and fires happen all too often and are too readily accepted as inevitable. This is largely because there is a  gap between what standards require, and how they are applied on the ground.

ProtegoPlus Electrotech was founded to close that gap. Through active involvement in writing electrical installation standards at the international and Indian level, we understand the intent behind each provision. We bring this knowledge directly to designers, manufacturers and other professionals who train with us.

Every engagement we take on delivers safer and more reliable electrical installations across India.
